As the title suggests, this is a harpy... One of several kinds of monsters which I adopted (and presumeably modified) for use in my own world.

I did the harpy in pencil and traced in ink, then coloured her with coloured pencils. I was going to CG a background, but I thought it looked too weird, so I used a combination of coloured ink and pencil instead... Still kind of funky, but you get the idea. I was fascinated by the circle formed by her wings and stance, so I made the background circular, too... I only touched two things with the computer, one was my signature in the corner and the other was to remove a couple of black marks I made when testing my inking pen.

I think it is a really good piece. Harpies are one of my favorite mythological creatures. You did an excellent job. Definitely worthy of praise.

:-) Nico Danell replies: "Thanks! I love harpies."

I tried to use google to get more information about Harpy, and then I get this picture, feeling it great. Would you tell me more about her? What does she stand for?

:-) Nico Danell replies: "Well, originally a harpy is a creature from Greek mythology... The body of a bird and the head of a woman, though there are a lot of variations. More info here: http://www.pantheon.org/articles/h/harpies.html"
